ABOUT // SCHOLARSHIP FUND

THE VENUS MORRIS GRIFFIN SCHOLARSHIP FUND.

$10,000 each year to a high school senior with an incarcerated parent. Because the chapter your family wrote doesn’t have to be the chapter you live in.

WHY THIS SCHOLARSHIP EXISTS.

Venus grew up with an incarcerated parent. She knows what it does to a family, to a kid’s sense of what’s possible, and to the path forward. The Venus Morris Griffin Scholarship Fund exists because she believes the chapter your family wrote doesn’t get to be the chapter you live in. Every year, one high school senior with an incarcerated parent receives $10,000 toward college.

WHO CAN APPLY.

The scholarship is open to any graduating high school senior with a currently or formerly incarcerated parent. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted at an accredited college, university, or trade school for the upcoming academic year.

HOW TO APPLY.

Applications open each spring. The application includes a personal essay, proof of enrollment or acceptance, and documentation of the applicant’s eligibility. Full application details and deadlines are announced on this page and Venus’s social media channels.

SUPPORT THE FUND.

The scholarship is funded by Venus personally and by community donations. If you want to help send a student to college, your contribution goes directly to the award.
